Plain is not always plain.
Key identifying features of this representative as a non-breeding adult are:
1)     Pale base of lower mandible
2)   Warm brown upperparts
3)   More rufuscent wings and tail
4)   Buff tips and dark subterminal marks to rectrices
5)    Warm buff wash to underparts.
